Grant’s story
It started with stars. My love of science led my to a love of photography, as I first picked up a camera to try and capture the galaxies and constellations I was discovering through my telescope. As time went by I discovered a deep love of photography, it combined my passion for technical and scientific working with creativity and social engagement. My journey into weddings starts like most stories - with a family members wedding, but it soon blossomed into a passion. After working in audio for 8 years, my love of photography won out and I went full time.
During this time I also invested my camera skills in my other passion of music. I began shooting bands, live music and using my love of cinema I began making music videos. Then gigs, festivals and massive performances. The combination of photography, videography and years of professional audio gave me a completely rounded professional package.
Being able to use everything I’ve learned to create beautiful wedding films feels like a dream. Especially sharing it with Lucy.
Lucy’s story
For as long as I can remember I have loved cinema. As I grew up I soon learned that not everyone got my references, not many teenagers or children quoted old Hollywood or famous war films. When I was in College I took media studies and I found that I enjoyed making the movies as much as watching them. After being an insufferable film student, I went on to study filmmaking at the University of Hertfordshire. Then life took a bit of a strange turn and I began running the family business for several years. I never lost my love of films and filmmaking, but my dreams took a back seat for a while.
Until I met Grant.
The first project we shot together was a music festival and for a new-ish couple it was certainly a test. It turns out that we not only love each other, we love working together. Over a few years we honed working on all sorts of film projects together. Making up our own systems, little ways to communicate silently, practiced methods for helping each other be our best on the day. Until finally we asked the question, why aren’t we shooting weddings together? We shot a wedding together that summer, and we never looked back.
The feeling of being such an important part of a couple’s day never wears off. I still smile in the ceremony behind the camera, I still gush about how beautiful you look when I see you in the dress the first time, I still cry in the editing studio listening to your vows.
Our story
We’re Grant & Lucy and we met in the crazy year that was 2020. We fell in love between the lock downs and moved in to stay together despite the pandemic trying to separate us. Luckily our dogs got along, but so did we. We share so many things and are still somehow so different - Grant loves a margarita pizza and Lucy wants all the toppings! In 2022, at the end of an incredible road trip across America Grant proposed. He says he was most worried about getting ‘the shot’ of the proposal but Lucy was so surprised the first few shots are just of her trying to help him up after tying a shoe.
A few years, a small fluffy Scottie dog, holidays and many adventures we are still having the best time being together and working together.
